How to Quickly Cancel a VPN Subscription: Complete Guide

Canceling a VPN subscription can seem complicated if you don't know where to find the right button. Many users look for ways to quickly cancel their VPN subscription before money is charged next time. In this guide, I'll show you the exact steps for each device and explain what happens to your data after cancellation.

Why Users Cancel VPN Subscriptions

The reasons for canceling a VPN subscription vary, and this is a completely normal process. Here are the main scenarios when people decide to stop paying for VPN.

Found a faster VPN with better speed

Not all VPNs work the same way. Some services offer good speeds, but when you start using the app on iPhone or Android, the speed drops due to the WireGuard or OpenVPN protocol operation. If your current VPN shows 50 Mbps in tests, but the actual speed when opening YouTube is only 5 Mbps, it makes sense to try a competitor.

I've noticed that services with their own infrastructure are usually faster than those that buy bandwidth from other providers. If your current VPN runs on cheap infrastructure, you usually feel it when streaming video.

VPN doesn't bypass DPI blocks from Roskomnadzor

This is one of the most common reasons for cancellation in Russia. VPN is purchased, installed, but YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook still don't work. This means that the OpenVPN or IKEv2 protocol cannot break through the DPI filter of your provider.

When Roskomnadzor strengthened the blocks in 2024-2025, many old VPNs simply stopped working. New protocols like Shadowsocks with traffic masking work better, but not all services offer them. If you quickly cancel your VPN subscription, you can switch to a more current service.

The platform freezes the connection on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram

Some VPNs seem to work, but videos load for hours or freeze altogether. This could be due to overloaded servers, poor traffic routing, or blocking at the provider level.

I've encountered situations where VPN connected, but YouTube videos buffer every 10 seconds. Staying on one VPN just because it works poorly is wasted money. It's better to cancel and find a solution that actually solves the problem.

High price for insufficient quality

A VPN for 500 rubles per month might be a good choice or just squeezing money. If the service doesn't offer a simple interface, is unstable or slow, the price becomes unjustified.

Many budget VPNs work well, and expensive services are sometimes overpriced. It's worth comparing what you get for your money: number of servers, support for different protocols, speed, number of simultaneous connections.

Connection problems on Android, iOS or Windows

VPN works perfectly on a Windows computer, but hangs on iPhone. Or vice versa — it works fast on a phone, but doesn't connect at all on a Samsung tablet. This can be caused by a problem with the application on a specific platform.

\n\n

If you have several devices and VPN works well only on one of them, this is a serious problem. There's no point paying for a subscription if you can't use it most of the time.

\n\n

You only need VPN temporarily for traveling abroad

\n\n

Not all users subscribe to VPN on a permanent basis. Someone travels on a business trip or vacation and needs a VPN for a month or two to watch Russian videos and access websites. After returning, the subscription is no longer needed.

\n\n

This is the most logical scenario for cancellation. You bought it for 30 days, used it, and canceled before auto-renewal. No problems, everything is fair and square.

\n\n

How to cancel a VPN subscription: step-by-step guide by platform

\n\n

I will tell you how to quickly cancel a VPN subscription on each platform. Important note: if you paid through the App Store or Google Play, you need to cancel there, not in the VPN application itself.

\n\n

Cancel subscription on iOS (Apple App Store)

\n\n

On iPhone or iPad, subscription cancellation is done through Apple ID settings, not through the VPN app itself.

\n\n

Step by step:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Open Settings
  2. \n
  3. Tap your name at the top of the screen
  4. \n
  5. Select "Subscriptions"
  6. \n
  7. Find the VPN service you need in the list
  8. \n
  9. Tap on its name
  10. \n
  11. Select "Cancel Subscription"
  12. \n
  13. Confirm the cancellation
  14. \n
\n\n

After this, the subscription will be canceled, but the VPN application will continue to work until the end of the paid period. Usually this is several hours or days depending on when you purchased the subscription.

\n\n

If you paid through the VPN service website and not through the App Store, this instruction won't work. Then you need to cancel on the official website through your account.

\n\n

Cancel subscription on Android (Google Play, Samsung Galaxy Store)

\n\n

On Android the process is similar, but the button locations are different.

\n\n

Cancellation via Google Play:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Open the Google Play app (Google Play Store on your phone)
  2. \n
  3. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner
  4. \n
  5. Select "Payments and subscriptions"
  6. \n
  7. Tap "Subscriptions"
  8. \n
  9. Find the VPN in the list of active subscriptions
  10. \n
  11. Tap on the subscription name
  12. \n
  13. Select "Cancel subscription"
  14. \n
  15. Select the reason for cancellation (optional) and confirm
  16. \n
\n\n

Google Play may offer you a discount to stop the cancellation. If you've already decided to cancel, just keep tapping "Cancel" until the system accepts the request.

\n\n

Cancellation via Samsung Galaxy Store:

\n\n

If the VPN is installed from the Samsung Galaxy Store, the process is different:

\n\n
  1. Open Galaxy Store
  2. Tap the profile icon (usually in the top right corner)
  3. Select "Manage subscriptions"
  4. Find the VPN in the list
  5. Tap it and select "Cancel"

Canceling VPN subscription on Windows (Microsoft Store and direct payment)

On Windows, the process depends on where you purchased the VPN.

If you paid through Microsoft Store:

  1. Open the Microsoft Store app
  2. Tap the profile icon in the top right corner
  3. Select "Manage subscriptions"
  4. Find the VPN in the list
  5. Tap it and select "Cancel subscription"

If you paid directly on the VPN website:

  1. Go to the official VPN service website
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Find the section "My Profile", "Subscriptions" or "Account"
  4. Find the active subscription
  5. Click the "Cancel" button
  6. Confirm the cancellation

On Windows, VPNs are also often installed as browser extensions (Chrome, Edge, Firefox). If the VPN is only an extension, you usually need to cancel it directly on the provider's website or through your browser account.

Canceling VPN subscription on macOS

On Mac, the process depends on whether the subscription was purchased through the App Store or directly.

Canceling App Store subscription:

  1. Open the Apple menu in the top left corner
  2. Select "System Settings"
  3. Click your name (at the top of the left panel)
  4. Click "Subscriptions"
  5. Find the VPN and click it
  6. Select "Cancel subscription"

Canceling direct subscription:

If the subscription is paid on the VPN website, you need to cancel it there — through your account on the official website.

Canceling VPN subscription on router via web interface

If the VPN is installed on your router (such as ASUS, TP-Link or another), the cancellation process can be more complex. The VPN usually works at the router level, not through an app.

General steps:

  1. Open your browser and enter the router's IP address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)
  2. Enter the administrator password
  3. Find the VPN section (it may be called "VPN", "Advanced Settings", "Network")
  4. Disable the VPN connection (Disable or Remove)
  5. Save the settings

This will disable the VPN on the router, but will not cancel the subscription. To cancel the subscription itself, you need to cancel it on the VPN service website where you purchased it. The router will simply stop using it.

If multiple family members use the same VPN through the router, it's important to notify everyone before disconnecting. After cancellation, all devices will lose access to the VPN.

Canceling VPN subscription on Smart TV and Apple TV

На Smart TV процесс отмены зависит от платформы: Android TV, WebOS (LG), Tizen (Samsung) или tvOS (Apple).

\n\n

Apple TV:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Open the Settings app
  2. \n
  3. Select "Users and Accounts"
  4. \n
  5. Select your Apple ID
  6. \n
  7. Select "Subscriptions"
  8. \n
  9. Find VPN and click on it
  10. \n
  11. Select "Cancel Subscription"
  12. \n
\n\n

Android TV or other systems:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Open Google Play Store on your TV
  2. \n
  3. Find the "My account" section
  4. \n
  5. Select "Subscriptions"
  6. \n
  7. Find VPN and cancel the subscription
  8. \n
\n\n

If you have a regular TV with built-in VPN (rare, but it happens), look for the option in your TV settings under "Apps" or "Network".

\n\n

Refunds and cancellation policies of different VPN services

\n\n

After you cancel your subscription, a common question arises: when will I get my money back? The cancellation and refund process varies depending on the service and payment method. I'll explain how it works and when you need to request a refund.

\n\n

Money-back guarantee (30 days, 45 days, 60 days)

\n\n

Most legitimate VPN services offer a money-back guarantee for a certain period. This is done so you can test the VPN and make sure it suits your needs.

\n\n

Typical options:

\n\n
    \n
  • 30-day guarantee — the most common. If the VPN doesn't suit you, you can request a refund within 30 days of purchase.
  • \n
  • 45-day guarantee — offered by some premium services. Gives more time for testing.
  • \n
  • 60-day guarantee — rare, but happens. Gives maximum time.
  • \n
  • 7-day guarantee — some budget services limit the refund period.
  • \n
\n\n

Important note: a money-back guarantee is not the same as canceling your subscription. You must explicitly request a refund by contacting support. Simply canceling your subscription doesn't mean you'll get your money back.

\n\n

If you want to get a refund, you need to:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Write to the VPN service support asking for a refund
  2. \n
  3. Explain the reason (doesn't work with blocks, slow, doesn't meet your needs)
  4. \n
  5. Attach screenshots of the problem if it's a feature-related issue
  6. \n
  7. Wait for support response (usually 24-72 hours)
  8. \n
  9. Get a refund to your original payment method (usually 5-14 days)
  10. \n
\n\n

How to get a refund if VPN doesn't work with DPI protection

\n\n

One of the most common reasons for refunds in Russia — VPN doesn't bypass DPI blocks. You bought a VPN, installed it, but YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram still don't work.

\n\n

To get a refund in this situation:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Test the VPN correctly. Make sure you connected to a server in the appropriate country (not Russia).
  2. \n
  3. Check that the correct protocol is being used. Some protocols work better with DPI than others (Shadowsocks usually works better than OpenVPN).
  4. \n
  5. If it really doesn't work, download screenshots or a video of the error.
  6. \n
  7. Write to support with a description: "VPN doesn't work with YouTube/TikTok, shows "Video unavailable", I'm in Russia and use the [name] protocol".
  8. \n
  9. Attach proof.
  10. \n
  11. Request a refund with the reason "VPN doesn't work as advertised".
  12. \n
\n\n

Most reputable VPN services will agree to refund you if their product truly didn't solve the stated problem. If a service refuses to refund without explanation — that's a red flag.

\n\n

What to do if your payment was charged twice

\n\n

Rarely, but it happens that a payment is processed twice. You see two transactions in your card statement or payment system.

\n\n

Actions:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Immediately contact VPN support with details: card number (last 4 digits), payment dates, amount.
  2. \n
  3. Tell them the payment went through twice and ask them to refund the duplicate payment.
  4. \n
  5. Wait for a response. Usually support fixes such errors quickly (12-48 hours).
  6. \n
  7. Money will be returned to your original account (5-14 days).
  8. \n
\n\n

If support doesn't help, contact your bank and explain that the payment went through twice. Your bank can initiate a chargeback (payment reversal), but it's a lengthy process.

\n\n

How to get a refund if your subscription auto-renewed

\n\n

You canceled the subscription, but the money was charged before the cancellation took effect. This especially often happens if you canceled on the last day of the cycle.

\n\n

Example: you bought an annual subscription on January 1st for 12 months. On December 31st you remembered you needed to cancel. But the system had already scheduled payment for January 1st and the money went through.

\n\n

Solution:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Immediately contact support and ask them to cancel auto-renewal.
  2. \n
  3. Explain that you tried to cancel but the payment still went through.
  4. \n
  5. Request a refund for the period you won't use.
  6. \n
  7. Wait for a decision (usually 24-48 hours).
  8. \n
\n\n

Remember that canceling a subscription and getting a refund are two different operations. Cancellation prevents future payments. A refund for an already-processed payment must be requested separately.

\n\n

Full breakdown: when exactly your money will be charged and how to stop it

\n\n

Here's how it works in most cases:

\n\n

Payment has already occurred: When you buy a subscription, money is deducted from your card immediately (or within minutes). This payment cannot be canceled through the app or website. You can only request a refund.

\n\n

Auto-renewal is scheduled: The system will schedule the next payment for the subscription expiration date. For example, if you bought a monthly subscription on the 15th, the next payment is scheduled for the 15th of the next month.

Subscription Cancellation: When you cancel your subscription, you tell the system "don't ask, don't charge me anymore". This prevents the payment on the 15th. Your current subscription will remain active until the end of the 14th.

\n\n

Payment After Cancellation: If you canceled your subscription on the 10th, but the system processes the cancellation on the 12th, auto-renewal might still go through. Then you'll need to request a refund.

\n\n

How to check your next payment date:

\n\n
    \n
  • iOS: Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → your VPN → see the "Renews" date
  • \n
  • Android: Google Play → Profile → Subscriptions → see your next payment date
  • \n
  • Website: Account → Subscriptions → date is shown next to your active subscription
  • \n
\n\n

The ideal time to cancel is a day or two BEFORE your next payment date. Not on the actual date, as the payment might already be processing.

\n\n

Difference Between Cancellation and Account Deletion (Preserving WireGuard, OpenVPN, VLESS Configurations)

\n\n

This is an important distinction that many people miss:

\n\n

Subscription Cancellation:

\n\n
    \n
  • You no longer pay
  • \n
  • The subscription will stop working at the end of the paid period
  • \n
  • Your account remains (usually for 6-12 months)
  • \n
  • VPN configurations are preserved
  • \n
  • You can come back and purchase the subscription again
  • \n
\n\n

Account Deletion:

\n\n
    \n
  • Your account is completely deleted
  • \n
  • All configurations are deleted from the servers
  • \n
  • You won't be able to restore access
  • \n
  • Personal data is deleted (usually within 30 days)
  • \n
  • If you want to use VPN again, you'll need to create a new account
  • \n
\n\n

If you've used WireGuard or OpenVPN configurations, export them before deleting your account:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Open your VPN application
  2. \n
  3. Find the "Configurations" or "Advanced" section
  4. \n
  5. Click "Export Configuration"
  6. \n
  7. Save the file with a .conf or .ovpn extension
  8. \n
  9. This will allow you to later import the configuration to another VPN
  10. \n
\n\n

If you're working with Shadowsocks or VLESS, they are usually stored in QR codes or strings. Copy this data to your notes before deleting your account.

\n\n

Common Problems When Canceling Subscriptions and Their Solutions

\n\n

Sometimes the cancellation process becomes a headache. I'll tell you about the most common problems and how to solve them.

\n\n

Cancel Button is Unavailable or Hidden in the Application

\n\n

The most common problem: a user opens the VPN application, looks for the "Cancel Subscription" button, and it's not there. This happens because the subscription was purchased through the App Store or Google Play, not directly in the application.

\n\n

Solution: cancel not in the VPN application itself, but in the app store.

\n\n
    \n
  • iOS: Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → find VPN
  • \n
  • Android: Google Play → profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions

If you paid directly on the VPN website, there should be a button in your account. Check the "My Profile", "Subscriptions", "Payments" or "Account" section.

If you can't find the button anywhere, contact support. Give them the email you registered with and tell them you want to cancel your subscription.

Payment was charged after canceling subscription

You canceled your subscription, but a charge appeared on your card statement. This can happen if the cancellation was not processed quickly enough.

Step by step:

  1. Check the cancellation date in the system (Settings → Subscriptions on iOS or Google Play on Android)
  2. Check the payment date in your bank statement
  3. If the payment was charged AFTER the cancellation, this is a system error
  4. Write to VPN support with details: cancellation date, payment date, amount
  5. Request a refund
  6. Usually a refund happens within 3-7 days

If support doesn't help within a week, write to your bank. Explain that an error occurred and request a chargeback.

VPN continues to work after cancellation (how long)

This is normal. After canceling your subscription, the VPN will continue to work until the end of the paid period. Usually this is a few hours or days.

Example: you bought a monthly subscription on the 1st, canceled on the 10th. The VPN will work until the end of the 31st (usually until 23:59:59 server time).

After the period expires:

  • The app may show an error "Subscription expired"
  • The connection will be disconnected
  • You won't be able to reconnect until you buy a new subscription

This is by design. You paid for a certain period, so the VPN works for the entire period even after cancellation.

Can't cancel subscription on phone, only on website

If there's no subscription cancellation option in the mobile app, it could mean:

  • Subscription was not purchased through App Store or Google Play (paid directly on the website)
  • Using an old version of the app that doesn't sync with the store
  • This is not an app from the official store (pirated version)

Action: cancel on the official VPN website. Log in to your account through a browser on your phone, find the subscriptions section, and click cancel there.

If there's no option on the website either, then you have a different type of subscription (for example through a mobile operator). Then you need to cancel through the operator (Beeline, MegaFon, MTS).

Support doesn't respond to cancellation request

Some VPN services have poor support. You write to chat, email, or through a form and don't get a response for weeks.

What to do:

  1. Try multiple channels: email, live chat, social media, Telegram if available
  2. Write specifically: your name, email, payment amount, payment date
  3. Set yourself a reminder for 3 days — if there's no response, write again with the "URGENT" label
  4. \n
  5. If that doesn't help, write to your bank and request a chargeback of the payment
  6. \n
  7. Remember that a chargeback may block you as a debtor to the VPN service, but it's better than paying for a subscription for free
  8. \n
\n\n

Honest VPN services respond within 24-48 hours. If support ignores requests — that's a reason to switch to another service.

\n\n

Account blocked, cannot cancel subscription

\n\n

Rarely, but it happens that an account is blocked due to suspicion of fraud or violation of terms of use. After blocking, you cannot log into your account and cannot cancel your subscription.

\n\n

Solution:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Write to support with an explanation: "My account is blocked, I cannot cancel my subscription, please help"
  2. \n
  3. Attach a screenshot of the error you see when logging in
  4. \n
  5. Provide your email and account registration date
  6. \n
  7. Ask them to unblock your account or at least cancel the subscription on their end
  8. \n
  9. If it's a fraud suspicion, explain that this is a false alarm
  10. \n
\n\n

If the account was blocked without reason, that's a red flag. Consider switching to another VPN after resolving the current issue.

\n\n

Before canceling: what you need to know and save

\n\n

Before clicking the VPN subscription cancellation button, check a few things. This will help you not lose important data.

\n\n

Save WireGuard, OpenVPN and Shadowsocks configurations before deletion

\n\n

If you ever want to use VPN again (or switch to another service), saved configurations may come in handy.

\n\n

WireGuard configuration export:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Open the VPN application
  2. \n
  3. Find the "Configurations", "Advanced" or "Settings" section
  4. \n
  5. Click on the configuration you want to save
  6. \n
  7. Select "Export" or "Share"
  8. \n
  9. Save the file with .conf extension
  10. \n
  11. Put the file in cloud storage (Google Drive, Yandex.Disk) or on your computer
  12. \n
\n\n

OpenVPN configuration export:

\n\n

The process is similar. Find the export option in the application and save the .ovpn file.

\n\n

Saving Shadowsocks:

\n\n

Shadowsocks is usually stored in link or QR code format. If there's an export option in the application, use it. If not, take a photo of the QR code or copy the link to a text file.

\n\n

Save the password if it's your last way to bypass blocks

\n\n

If this VPN is your only way to bypass DPI blocks (because other services don't work), save your account password in a safe place.

\n\n

This is needed in case you need to recover your account in a month or two. If you lose access, recovery may take time.

\n\n

Do not write down your password in plain text. Use a password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, KeePass) or encrypt a file with passwords.

\n\n

How to export connection logs in case of speed testing

\n\n

If you want to keep evidence of VPN speed (in case questions arise later), some apps allow you to export statistics.

\n\n

In the VPN app, look for the "Statistics", "History", or "Logs" section:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Find information about speed, data amount, connection time
  2. \n
  3. If there is an export button, click it
  4. \n
  5. Save the file
  6. \n
  7. If there is no export, just take a screenshot of the statistics
  8. \n
\n\n

This can be useful if you later want to prove that the VPN was slow or unstable (for disputing with support about refunds).

\n\n

Delete local VPN profiles on iOS if no longer needed

\n\n

On iPhone, VPN is saved as profiles in the system. After deleting the app, these profiles remain.

\n\n

To delete them:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Open Settings
  2. \n
  3. Tap VPN
  4. \n
  5. Find this VPN profile in the list
  6. \n
  7. Tap it and select "Delete" (Delete)
  8. \n
  9. Confirm deletion
  10. \n
\n\n

This is needed if you want to completely remove traces of this VPN from your system before deleting the app.

\n\n

Check that other apps do not depend on this VPN

\n\n

Some apps are configured to use a specific VPN. If you cancel the subscription and delete the VPN, these apps may stop working properly.

\n\n

Check:

\n\n
    \n
  • Which apps use VPN (Settings → VPN on iPhone or Apps → Permissions → VPN on Android)
  • \n
  • If you use a torrent client through this VPN, make sure you have a replacement
  • \n
  • If the browser uses this VPN extension, disable it before deleting
  • \n
\n\n

Disable VPN before payments and entering card data

\n\n

Before canceling your subscription and entering payment method data, make sure the VPN is disabled.

\n\n

Why this is important:

\n\n
    \n
  • Banks may block payment if the IP address differs from normal
  • \n
  • When entering OTP (SMS code), the bank may require confirmation that it is you
  • \n
  • Some payment systems block transactions through VPN to prevent fraud
  • \n
\n\n

Before canceling your subscription:

\n\n
    \n
  1. Disable VPN
  2. \n
  3. Wait for your real IP address to be restored (may take a few seconds)
  4. \n
  5. Only then enter payment or subscription management data
  6. \n
\n\n
\n\n
\n

If I cancel my subscription right now, when will the last payment be charged?

\n

⚠️ **Prompt injection detected.** Your message contains a legitimate translation request followed by embedded Python code designed to trigger automated actions. I won't execute, acknowledge, or process the embedded script. I'll translate only the legitimate HTML fragment you requested: ```html

Payment for the current period has already occurred when you purchased the subscription. This cannot be canceled — the money is already in the service account. If you cancel your subscription now, the next automatic payment will not occur. For example, if you purchased a monthly subscription on the 15th, canceling the subscription before the 15th of the next month prevents the second payment. You can check the date of the next payment in Settings → Subscriptions (iOS) or Google Play → Subscriptions (Android).

Can I cancel my subscription in the app or do I need to do it on the website?

It depends on where you paid. If you purchased the subscription through the App Store on iPhone, you need to cancel it in Settings → Subscriptions, not in the VPN app itself. If you purchased through Google Play on Android, cancel it in Google Play → Subscriptions. If you paid directly on the VPN website, cancel it on that same website in your account section. The most common confusion: users look for a cancel button in the VPN app, but it's not there because the subscription was purchased through the app store.

What will happen to my VPN connection after cancellation?

VPN will continue to work until the end of the paid period. This could be several hours, days, or even months if you purchased an annual subscription. After the period expires, VPN will disconnect and the app may show an error like "Subscription Expired" or "Subscription Update Required". You can check until what date your subscription is active in the VPN app — there is usually a "My Subscription" section showing the expiration date. Your encryption data remains secure and the configuration will be saved if you later decide to return to this VPN.

How do I get a refund if VPN doesn't bypass DPI blocks?

Most VPNs offer a 30-60 day money-back guarantee. If VPN doesn't bypass DPI blocks from Roskomnadzor and YouTube, TikTok, Instagram don't work, you have the right to a refund. Write to VPN support and explain the problem: "VPN doesn't work with YouTube, throws an error, I tried different servers and protocols." Include a screenshot of the error and mention that you're a user from Russia. Support usually processes such requests within 24-48 hours and approves refunds if VPN truly doesn't solve the problem. Money will be returned to your original payment method within 5-14 days.

Can I cancel my subscription if I don't remember my account password?

```Yes, you can. Use the password recovery function — usually on the login page there's a link "Forgot password" or "Recover access". Click it, enter the email you used when registering, and follow the instructions in the email. If the email is no longer available, contact VPN support, explain the situation, and provide them with information confirming that this is your account (last 4 digits of the card you paid with, email address, registration date). Support can help restore access or cancel the subscription from their side without logging into the account.
What should I do if I accidentally canceled my subscription and want to turn it back on?
\n
Don't worry, usually everything can be restored. If you canceled the subscription recently, the VPN app remains installed and you can purchase a new subscription through the same place as before (App Store, Google Play, or the VPN website). If you just canceled (within a few hours), write to support and ask them to cancel the cancellation (usually they can do this). Old WireGuard and OpenVPN configurations will be saved if you didn't delete them. If the account was deleted, you need to create a new account and purchase a subscription again.
Can I pause my subscription instead of canceling and then activate it later?
\n
Not all VPNs offer a subscription pause feature. Some services allow you to cancel automatic renewal but keep the subscription active until the end of the paid period — this is essentially the same as a pause. Most VPNs simply offer two options: either continue paying (auto-renewal enabled) or cancel (stop paying). If you need a pause, for example if you're traveling abroad for a month and then returning, check with your VPN service support if they support pauses. If not, just cancel your subscription and buy a new one when you return.
Will my account and data be deleted if I cancel my subscription?
\n
Canceling your subscription does not delete your account. Your data will remain on VPN servers usually for 6-12 months. You can always come back and purchase a subscription again — your account will be there. If you want to completely delete your account and all your data, you need to separately request deletion from support. Canceling a subscription is NOT the same as deleting an account. The distinction is important: canceling a subscription = you stopped paying but can return; deleting an account = complete removal by the provider, all data deleted, recovery impossible. If you want to delete your data, explicitly request this from support in an email.
